Intrado’s Life & Safety group is hiring a Systems Administrator to join our technology team!

Intrado’s Life & Safety division is responsible for some critical parts of our everyday life. Our solutions are responsible for everything that happens after a 9-1-1 call is placed – call routing, delivery, location determination and data management. Whether you call from a landline, cell phone or text 9-1-1, we make sure first responders get the right information at the right time so they can save lives.

This position is for a System Administrator on our Back-Office Infrastructure team. This team supports our Microsoft 365 environment (Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, MS Teams, etc) along with a variety of other on-prem and online platforms and systems for the business. The focus for this role is primarily on Microsoft systems and technologies, but the team also supports many other things including: some Linux, some appliances, multiple SaaS services, etc. A broad base of experience across different technologies and a desire to grow and learn innovative technologies is essential.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the entire day-to-day administration of assigned platforms, including troubleshooting and resolving problems as they arise
  • Leads operational administration for the organization's Microsoft 365, messaging, collaboration, and various other platforms
  • Manage software upgrades and installation of hotfixes, patches and service packs with minimal down time
  • Troubleshoot complex problems, develop documentation and technical procedures, as necessary.
  • Resolves technical escalations and provides recommendations for performance improvements
  • Monitor systems performance and ensure availability and usability
  • Develop plans and processes designed to improve long-term capabilities of systems
  • Develop new tools and procedures aimed at making platform maintenance more effective and efficient, along with identifying processes that can be automated
  • Respond to system outages and maintenance needs, including off hours and weekends, as part of an on-call rotation (24x7 company)

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Systems Administration

  • Configure and maintain assigned platform and/or system, which includes properly mapping and compiling the operating system and ensuring appropriate software is available to do so
  • Ensure platform or system is operating correctly at all times without over-utilizing resources and is recognizing connections with other applicable machines on the network
  • Regularly add and delete user logins and maintain user accounts; provide system security by checking files and directories for access, checking password changes, and restricting access by outside users on the platform or system
  • Configure system security via file permissions, host trusting, etc.
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are in place to perform system backups according to departmental procedures
  • May configure toll free numbers into the platform or system, assigning the correct labels and skill groups
  • Schedule and implement system backups and data storage processes
  • Assign and monitor system resources such as disk space, processor time, and network bandwidth, ensuring a file system is cleaned when it fills
  • Balance work across all available operating systems in an effort to maintain system load
  • Assist in ordering, planning, and installing new or used hardware, as requested
  • Set up batch jobs to run repeatedly as requested, ensuring process runs according to schedule
  • Install all new versions of software and/or hardware on applicable units, coordinating upgrades with appropriate departmental staff
  • Perform proactive analysis of platform data (i.e., disk utilization, system load, etc.), to predict overloads or failures and correct these problems ahead of time
  • Ensure that the system is running correctly and that as much of the equipment is in service as possible; maintain all documentation related to systems administration

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer or a related field is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer or a related field is preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in Systems Administration or a similar role.
  • Microsoft certification is an advantage but not a requirement

Technical

  • Experience in Office 365 Administration including Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and MS Teams
  • Proven experience in Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 Administration
  • Strong knowledge in Active Directory, LDAP, and DNS
  • Knowledge in IIS in a web hosting environment
  • Good understanding of networking, including firewall and load balancers such as F5
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting; additional scripting languages or automation is helpful
  • Experience with administration of on-prem Exchange and SharePoint is helpful
  • Familiar with eDiscovery and setting litigation holds in O365.
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365 Intune
  • Familiar with the ITIL process. Experience in implementing and supporting IT Service Management (ITSM) tools
